Call For Papers l The 2nd Asia-Pacific Global Sourcing Conference

We are pleased to release this Call for Papers for the 2nd Asia-Pacific Global Sourcing Conference, which will be held on September 14-16, 2018 in Renmin University of China, Beijing, China.

The conference will aim to explore how new and emerging forms of outsourcing and offshoring challenge sourcing practices and theories, and consequently identify new directions for research and practice. The conference aims to bring together viewpoints from various disciplines, including information systems, international business, operation management and strategy on global sourcing of IT, Business Services and Innovation.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Professor Sirkka Jarvenpaa, Rauscher Pierce Refsnes Chair in Business Administration, University of Texas at Austin. Prof. Jarvenpaa is known for her academic leadership in inter-organizational research, focusing on collaborative modes including outsourcing. Paper Track
We invite research articles, work in progress and ‘focus on practice’ papers that investigate topics relating to global outsourcing and offshoring. Some of the specific themes that are of interest include:
Sourcing decision making
Sourcing configurations (multi-sourcing, plural sourcing, supplier networks, eco-systems)
Relational and contractual governance issues
Supplier and client capabilities and competences
Automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning and blockchain
Innovation through outsourcing
Cultural and social issues
Knowledge issues in outsourcing
Impact sourcing
Cloud services (as service economy)

We are interested in papers that are both conceptual and empirically based.

Selected papers from the conference will be published as book chapters in Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (by Springer).

PhD Research in Progress
We also invite PhD students to present their research in progress on topics relating to global sourcing as listed above. This track will mainly focus on providing constructive feedback to PhD students and helping them to develop their ideas further as a part of their PhD training.

All submissions should be sent in MS Word format to: with 'Abstract submission APGSC 2018' as the subject of the e-mail and a clear indication whether this is a PhD Research in Progress or Paper Track.

Registration will start in May 2018. We will circulate information about the method to pay fees.
Early registration fees by August 1st are US$100(¥650) per person which include a reception, two light lunches, and one dinner.
Late registration (from August 1st onwards) is US$150(¥950).

Business School, Renmin University of China, 59 Zhongguancun St. Beijing, China.

There are two four-star hotels near the conference venue. Participants should make your own reservations as early as possible, through your preferred online travel agency or use Ctrip:
1) Ariva Beijing West Hotel & Serviced Apartment, Address: 36 South Haidian Road (Haidian Nan Lu). It is the closest one, only about 10 minutes walking distance from the conference venue, which is near the west gate of Renmin University.
2) Beijing Yanshan Hotel,Address: A-38 Zhongguancun Street (Zhongguancun Dajie). The hotel is almost right across from the east gate of Renmin University, about 25 minutes walking distance from the conference venue.
